Ulcerative colitis is the other major inflammatory bowel disease, limited to the colon and rectum, where inflammation spreads continuously from the rectum upward. Severity ranges from mild proctitis to pancolitis. Left undertreated it raises long-term risks, so real disease monitoring matters even in natural-medicine care.
UC is one of the most gratifying conditions to treat integratively. Depending on your case: botanical anti-inflammatories with evidence in UC, microbiome work, nutritional strategies, and — where appropriate — coordination with your GI on medication. The goal is documented remission, not just fewer symptoms.
